A Word from Conference
Chairperson
As conference chairperson and on
behalf of the Water Institute of
Southern Africa Membrane Technology
Division (WISA MTD) it is my immense
pleasure to invite you to the first
International WISA Membrane
Technology Conference (WISA-MTC’09)
to be held in South Africa in 2009.
I am very pleased to announce that
this ground-breaking conference is
organised in association with the
European Membrane Society (EMS).
Although this will be our first
international conference, WISA MTD
has hosted numerous highly
successful national symposia over
the past 12 years, and we look
forward to continuing with that
tradition whilst lifting the bar
with respect to meeting your
expectations.
One of the key objectives of the
conference will be to explore the
latest developments in membrane
technology, whether it is in the
field of research, product or
application. Our aim will be to
cater for the needs of both
developing and industrialised
countries.
The technical program promises to be
cutting edge. International leading
experts will deliver keynote
addresses on topics that will set
the scene for the rest of the day’s
technical sessions. The technical
and social programmes will be
designed to provide ample
opportunity for discussion and
networking. One of the key features
of the conference will be a
technical tour to showcase an
exciting membrane application.
Included in the conference fees will
be the technical sessions,
conference proceedings, coffee
breaks, lunches and dinners. We will
be awarding student prizes for best
oral and poster presentations.
Engineers will be able to claim
3 Continuous Professional Development
(CPD) points for attending this
conference.
What could be more conducive to
membrane technology exchange than
the beautiful setting of the Spier
Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, Western
Cape. I certainly look forward to
talking about our passion
“Membranes” in this beautiful
relaxed atmosphere.
On this note, I eagerly await
welcoming you to WISA-MTC’09 in
South Africa.
Don’t miss this
opportunity!
